30km from Narbonne, and 20 km from Carcassonne, the medieval Trausse (Trossan in occitan) is found on Mediterranean soils. Dry climate, bright skies, permanent winds (Cers and Marin) calcareous land, rocky soils with low vegetation… our country of wide spaces and large horizons! Our natural aromatic bush land looks deserted however is full of life. As the seasons go by colours and fragrances of wild flora, dominated by the Kermes Oak (hard persistent leaves) are a wonderful pleasure. The cistus, the lavender, rosemary, thyme, heather, lis, orchids, tulips, and wild asparagus, mark the walking tracks where no fences or barriers of barb wire exist. Fauna is rich with small game, wild bores, and a large variety of insects and birds… …without forgetting to mention the enchanting summer song of the cicadas !
